Job Description

Wanted: An experiencedRHEL Senior Engineerwith demonstratedexperience in administering, testing, and implementingcomputer databases, applyingknowledge of database management systems. Coordinate changes to computer databases.Plan, coordinate, and implement security measures to safeguard computer databases.Preference given to candidates with astrong Red Hat and RHEL engineering expertise to enhance mission critical systems.

A week in the life of aRHEL Senior Engineer:

  • Install, configure, upgrade, and patch Red Hat Linux servers.
  • Performroot cause analysis and troubleshoot issues related to operating systems like Red Hat Enterprise, Linux, Ubuntu, CentOS.
  • Perform vulnerability scans using Tenable (Nessus), HPWebInspect, and DB Protect scanning tools to detect potential risks on single/multiple assets across the enterprise network.
  • Investigate the following activities as part of a SOC: malware attacks, DoS attacks, SQL injection, cross-site scripting, phishing attempts, brute force attempts, DLP alerts, and malicious scanning/reconnaissance activitydetection.
  • Conduct Dynamic and Static Code Analysis.
  • Use Splunk to investigate and correlate potentially malicious events.
  • Review alerts using Phantom and other tools to perform in-depth analysis and triage of network security threat activity based on computer and media forensics, malicious code analysis, and protocol analysis to identify intrusions.
  • Review system logs, event logs, security logs, audit logs, and application logs from Windows servers/workstations, Linux servers, routers and switches, appliances, applications, and databases to identify potential malicious activity.

Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law. Job Requirements
  • Required: a minimum of 10 years of recent and relevant experience.
  • Required certifications: RHCSA and RHCE.
  • Preferred education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in information technology management or a related field.
  • Domain expertise: Operating Systems, Security, DevSecOps, System tools, Cloud, Virtualization.
  • Technical skills: RHEL/CentOS Linux, Ubuntu Linux, Kali Linux Application, OS Hardening, PCI DSS, A&A/C&A, RMF, Patch and Vulnerability Management using Tanium, Tenable Security Center and Nessus, Jenkins, Ansible, and Splunk,WebInspect, Metasploit, Python, Azure and AWS, VMware.
  • Other preferred certification: CompTIA Security+, CISSP.
  • Previous Transportation Security Administration (TSA) personnel clearance preferred but not required.
  • Prior experience with and knowledge of TSA's mission priorities, systems, and applications preferred but not required.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to coordinate across large groups of people at multiple levels.
