Job Description

Wanted: An experiencedSeniorAIXAdminwithdemonstrated experience in administering, testing, and implementingcomputersystems anddatabases, applying knowledge ofHW/SW anddatabase management systems. Coordinate changes to computer databases.Plan, coordinate, andimplement security measures to safeguard computer databases.Preference given to candidates withextensive expertise in AIX server administration in complex mission-critical systems providing leadership in matrixed teams.

A week in the life of aSeniorAIXAdmin:

  • Troubleshoot incident tickets and create user accounts, volume groups, logical volumes and file systems, and monitored system events.
  • Perform backups, restores, server upgrades and maintenance, and AIX performance tuning.
  • Provide support and installation for proprietary software on both AIX and Windows-based Handhelds.
  • Manage matrixed Project teams relevant to the IBM AIX environment.
  • Provide web hosting support on Unix servers: duties included AIX administration, performance tuning, Unix shell scripting, and system troubleshooting.
  • Migrate LPARs from IBM Power7 and Power8 to Power9.
  • Execute Performance Tuning on Oracle and SAS servers.
  • Experience with mission-critical systems in aerospace and government systems, including security configuration management.

Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law. Job Requirements
  • Required: a minimum of10 yearsof recent and relevantexperience.
  • Required certification:IBM AIX Certified System Administrator-AIX 6.1
  • Preferred education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in information technology management or a related field.
  • Domain expertise: Operating System, Networking, Virtualization.
  • Technical skills:AIX 5.2/ 5.3/6.1/7.1;VIO1.5/2.1; Windows 95/98/ Windows NT/2000/ ME; MAC OS 7.1 to 10; UNIX;. Red Hat andSuSELinux migration fromNetAppto EMC,Tripwire 8.3 Security Configuration Management,LAN/WAN; HTML;PERL; CGI; Java; SUN; Apache; DNS; Windows OS; MAC OS;Networking,TCP/IP; Ether channel, cabling;Fibrechannel; SAN Connect,SR-IOV & VNICs for network in creating LPARs; Unix Shell scripting.
  • Technical Training: AIX System Admin; AIX User Support;AIXWPARs; AIXLVM; AIXTopas/NMON.
  • Previous Transportation Security Administration (TSA) personnel clearance preferred but not required.
  • Prior experience with and knowledge of TSA's mission priorities, systems, and applications preferred but not required.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to coordinate across large groups of people at multiple levels.
