Job Description
FSA Federal (FSA) is focused on delivering unsurpassed services in support of law enforcement and homeland security. We currently have a vacancy for a Staff Accountant II (mid-level) in its Corporate Headquarters office.
This position requires an employee with strong accounting skills who can think and act independently. The position will report to FSA's Accounting Manager. Day-to-day job responsibilities include:
  • Apply new accounting policies, ensure compliance with rules and regulations.
  • Verify documents for completeness and compliance with government and private agencies.
  • Ensuring all accounting procedures, records, and reports conform to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Perform Monthly Account Reconciliation and monitor various general ledger accounts such as cash, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, deposits, accrued income and accrued liability balances.
  • Monitor Fixed Assets and perform annual inventory for Fixed Assets.
  • Prepare schedules and file regulatory report like Annual Reports, Property Tax and others.
  • Maintain and update accounting records and file.
  • Categorize records in the general ledger (e.g. by assets, liabilities and expenses)
  • Maintain internal controls as per SOX requirements and conduct risk assessment of assigned department or business areas
  • Reconcile bank statements
  • Analyze transactions with internal and external stakeholders
  • Conduct month-end and year-end closures, including Journal entries and variance reports
  • Prepare documentation for Internal, Financial and SOX Audits
  • Advise clients on financial issues via email or phone
  • Report to the Accounting Manager and work to improve financial processes
  • Maintain a high level of organization.
  • Maintain confidential documents in their job, including income statements or balance sheets for company accounts that need secure handling.
  • Support in budgeting and forecast reporting
  • Perform ad hoc analysis around current and future projects.

Minimum Educational Requirements:

  • BA in Accounting or Finance

Required:

  • A minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience working in a finance role. An additional 4 years of experience may be substituted for a degree.
  • Ability to navigate, escalate and lead accounting efforts as necessary
  • Ability to work individually and with other team member with minimum supervision
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Intermediate level for Microsoft Office Word and Excel; good with spreadsheets
  • Knowledge of an accounting information system is a plus
  • Plan and organize work, meet schedules and deadlines
  • Good math skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Good Verbal and written communication skills
  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity

Preferred:

  • Government contracting experience
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
